"A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones." Proverbs 14:30 NLT
How is your health? You might ask: "Do you mean physically or emotionally?" The answer is yes.
We all know too well that stress, anxiety and fear can contribute to illness, but the prescription for good health, we are told, is a peaceful heart. Taking care of your body, soul and mind begins with a peaceful heart. And a peaceful heart is gained by fixing our thoughts on the One Who is in control of all things.
The prophet Isaiah writes. "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!"
Isaiah 26:3 NLT
Paul wrote to the church in Colossi that it is our calling to live in peace. "And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful." Colossians 3:15 NLT. God would not call you to do something that you are unable to do. If we are called to live in peace, you can be certain that God will equip you to do just that!
We have the ability, good or bad to choose our thoughts. If you want a healthy body, pursue a peaceful heart. Allowing our thoughts to become jealous thoughts is like cancer to our bones. Particularly this week let us choose to be thankful and choose to fix our thoughts on the One Who has given us so many good things. It is the healthy thing to do.
